Our Programs

Alerts Labs has three major programs in place to curb underage drinking and other drug use, and within these programs there are a variety of kinds of help.

Making Sobriety Attractive (MSA) is a population level prevention program, effective with large groups, e.g., universities, high schools, or other kinds of organizations.

1. The MSA Program (also implemented under the title, "Positive Influences") is a Social Norms (sometimes called Social Marketing) approach to conducting communication campaigns that are effective in

preventing teens from beginning to use alcohol and other drugs (AOD),
reducing the amount and frequency with which teens and adults use AOD, and in
awakening individuals within the population who misuse AOD or have Substance Abuse Disorders to the fact that their using is NOT THE NORM and that they may need help in quitting or reducing their use.

2. The Parents Are Heroes (PAH) Program

The Partnership for a Drug-Free America Launches Innovative Community Education Website Educating Parents and Teens About the Dangers of Drugs and Alcohol: The Partnership for a Drug-Free America, with funding from the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, has launched a new and innovative website, PACT360 - Police And Communities Together. PACT360 features five law enforcement-led community prevention education programs designed to deal with existing drug and alcohol issues and empower parents and teens to protect themselves against these dangers. "ALERT Labs, in partnership with Kent ISD and others, has been awarded a new, 5-year, $625,000 Drug Free Communities grant to continue the work begun in 2005 with a 5-year, $500,000 grant for the Making Sobriety Attractive (MSA) program.

The work of the MSA program to prevent adolescents alcohol and other drugs use, begun in 2005, will continue and expand to more schools as part of the new "Positive Influences" prevention program.

More details will be released over the next few weeks.
